Jim Walker

Jim has been actively working in the alcohol treatment and drug treatment field for over 25 years and has provided executive leadership in multiple capacities and organizations including the Greater Austin Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, La Hacienda treatment center in Hunt, Horizon Hospitals, Parkside treatment centers, and Heartland Health Systems. In 2007, as the Area Director for Central Texas with The Right Step, he managed the successful startup of treatment centers in Wimberley and Spicewood. Most recently, Jim provided consulting services to Memorial-Hermann Prevention and Recovery Center for marketing, patient access systems, and call center development. A graduate of Blinn College in Brenham, TX, Jim has been a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a graduate of Johnson Institute of Intervention.
Justin Harvey

Justin is a committed member in the recovery community of Austin and displays the highest level of integrity in his personal and professional life. He is a former Marine with a background in commercial construction management. His passion to help others struggling with addiction brought him to The Arbor. His big heart and compassion for others make him excellent with patient care services and activities while maintaining a safe and therapeutic treatment environment. Justin provides leadership, guidance and support to all the Recovery Support Technicians.
Abi Williams, Ph.D., LCSW, CSAT, CMAT
Director of Clinical Services and Program Development
Abi Williams joined the Center for Recovering Families in Houston in 1990 where she helped develop – and then served as Clinical Director of – the Healing Choices Intensive Outpatient Program. In 2002, when The Center merged with The Council on Alcohol and Drugs Houston, she served as Director of the Center for Recovering Families until 2010.
Abi earned her B.A. in Psychology in 1986, her M.S.W. in 1988, and her Ph.D. in 2000. She is a certified Sex Addiction Therapist and a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist. Abi specializes in family-systems focused therapy in the treatment of codependency, substance abuse, and process addictions. She draws on more than three decades of her own Alanon recovery experience in her work.
Harold F. Adelman, MD

Medical Director
Dr. Adelman attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma and has practiced adult and adolescent psychiatry since 1990. After he completed a Psychiatry residency and a year as chief resident at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, he became Medical Director of Adult Chemical Dependency Services at The Haven psychiatric hospital in DeSoto, TX. During his tenure there, he became Board Certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He later served as Medical Director of Adult Psychiatric Services at The Cedars hospital in DeSoto. Dr. Adelman has had an interest in and involvement with the treatment of substance use disorders throughout his professional life. He currently resides in Kerrville, TX, where he is in private practice with his wife, Dr. Sue Moss, also a General Adult Psychiatrist.
Todd J. Dugas, LCSW, CCS, ADCIII
Program Director
Todd is a senior-level social services director with over 20 years experience serving in leadership capacities in the field of addictive and mental health disorders, working with a wide range of populations of various socio-economic status and varied practice settings. He has comprehensive administration, program development, financial, staff development, policy and procedures, and state licensure experience at multiple facilities in Louisiana including Cypress Hospital and Acadiana Recovery Center and Acadiana Outreach Center. Most recently, Todd has been a regional manager for Bluebonnet Trails MHMR Community Center’s crisis services in Austin, Texas.
A masters-level graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with an undergraduate from University of Southwestern Louisiana, Todd is dually licensed in clinical social work and addictive disorders counseling in Texas.
Karyn Chavez,
Director of Operations
Karyn has 30 years of comprehensive experience in all areas of business management, promotion and operations. As owner, manager and designer for Home Accessories Etc., an Austin area design firm specializing in decorative consulting and construction for home and commercial design projects, she has excellent customer service skills and a keen eye for detail. Additional experience includes managing a major custom upholstery furniture store with responsibility for all phases of commercial operations.
A graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s of Science degree, Karyn has been an active community volunteer for Austin ISD and involved in creating and organizing alcohol abuse prevention programs for high school students.
The Arbor provides service to those in Austin, including surrounding Texas areas such as San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston, we also help clients and their families throughout the United States and internationally.
