Clinical Services

Crucial to helping people recover from the abuse of and dependence upon substances is therapy and insight-oriented groups and activities. Unlike other one dimensional programs treating drug and alcohol problems, The Arbor integrates drug and alcohol clinical services with 12-Step programming, psychiatric and medical services, to enable clients to build awareness of self, understand their history, belief systems, attitudes and behaviors, and begin to heal.

Our clinical director has over 20 years of experience in the field of addiction treatment, and has assembled a team of licensed professionals who understand the dynamics involved with clients and loved ones attempting to overcome addiction. It is not easy. No two people’s experiences or issues are the same. But your life can improve if you want, and make an honest effort. Each client at The Arbor has a clinician who is a licensed therapist and oversees his or her unique treatment experience.

The Arbor is a dual diagnosis program serving Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio Texas. What this means is that we are skilled and experienced in addressing the addiction AND the mental health issues of each client. Whether a client cannot stop drinking alcohol and experiencing depression; is dependent upon cocaine and suffering from bi-polar; has a problem with prescription pills and anxiety; these are just some examples. Our psychiatrists and clinical professionals assess and treat the emotional, psychological, addiction, and psychiatric issues.

We believe, and industry research supports, if proper dual diagnosis treatment does not occur during the residential phase and a plan is established for aftercare, risk for relapse increases significantly. It is critical to the long-term health and sobriety of our clients that we assess, help them understand, and treat the core issues they present with upon admission. Many other programs claim to be a dual diagnosis program.

We recommend you ask about licensing of facility and staff to determine the qualifications and quality of programming related to mental health services and treatment. If an individual needs residential treatment, they also need counseling and other assessments and support. This does not mean that all clients have a mental health diagnosis. It simply means that many do and that other emotional and developmental issues are present with all clients.

Our clients receive individual therapy, participate in group therapy, are involved in on site 12-step programming, attend off site 12-step meetings and engage in several psycho-educational seminars daily and weekly.

The Arbor utilizes several therapeutic modalities and tools to meet the unique needs of each client. Some of these include Motivational Enhancement, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and EMDR for Trauma.
